Marriages and families are in big trouble today.  Society as a whole is experiencing a breakdown of the family in frightening proportions.  God’s Word offers clear and timely guidance on how to reverse these trends.  God shows us how struggling families can become strong, and how strong families can become even stronger.  In this series, we will explore 7 God-given guidelines on how to build great families and enjoy His ideal for successful family living.  Join us as we explore principles for strengthening your marriage, enjoying great parent/child relationships, growing in communication skills, experiencing true forgiveness, building respect, serving one another, practicing Christ-like love, and more.  God says, YOUR FAMILY CAN THRIVE, not barely survive.

Jael Cox was raised in a pastor’s home in the Northwest and is the youngest of five children. Jael is married to Gary Cox, and they have four children. They ministered as Music Pastors in Anchorage, Alaska for 18 years.  After returning to the Northwest several years ago they have continued to minister in various capacities of music.  Jael has an amazing and encouraging story of her family’s many serious life challenges. Through the storms, Jael has learned to rely solely on God and His unchanging Word. She brings a unique message of hope and encouragement that will inspire you to take God at His Word and believe Him for the miraculous.

Shaya Lindseth is the oldest of a massive musical pastor’s family.  Music was bred into her DNA, and church has always been home away from home. Both are still a large part of everyday life. Currently she is on staff at Portland Christian Center in Oregon as a music associate as well as the director of two children’s choirs. She also teaches piano and voice for a school of music. Shaya’s number one passion is for music in worship.  She has found that getting lost in worship is her most favorite place to be!  Shaya likes to describe herself as a closet nerd due to her great love of books, learning, and mind bending puzzles. However, all three are made even better if there’s coffee, chocolate, and/or people involved!

Kris Wheeler serves on the Women’s Ministry team at BCA and has a deep passion to encourage women to live in all the freedoms that Jesus died to give them.  Having not had the advantage of being raised in a Christian home, Kris’ faith journey comes with the background of God’s amazing grace of salvation in her life.  Her desire is to teach and inspire women to believe and trust God completely for His plans and purposes for their lives.  Married to her high school sweetheart for almost 24 years, she enjoys spending time with her three children.  Kris enjoys and active lifestyle including coaching soccer, running and triathlons.

Dawn Marie Helin felt God’ call to dedicate her life to full-time ministry as a teenager.  From 1987-2001, she and her husband, Michael, served full-time in stateside pastoral ministry.  In 2000, the Lord called Michael and Dawn Marie into full-time ministry overseas.  They are currently missionaries on furlough from their assignment at Vienna Christian Center in Austria.  Dawn Marie has four children and loves being a mom.  In the last year, God has been really teaching Dawn Marie what it means to have faith and rely solely on the Lord.

Royal Rangers Day Hike

Hello Ranger Parents!  Ranger Kids Day, June 2nd, will be at Warm Beach Community Church,  costing $8 person.  Last year, the Ranger Kid’s (K-2nd) had a great time with many events to choose from.  (They’ll have a bouncy house, too!) 

Plan on meeting at the church by 8 AM and riding the shuttle up there.  We will bring plenty of food for everyone so please let us know if you plan on attending.

Mark your calendar for Sunday, June 3, from 12:30-2 PM for our SKY Vacation Bible School Volunteer Orientation Meeting.  This mandatory meeting offers you a wealth of information about Vacation Bible School in an energetic setting.  Come meet all of our station leaders and find out how you can minister most effectively at SKY!

FREE VOLUNTEER T-SHIRTS: Come to the orientation meeting and receive your free volunteer SKY t-shirt.  This t-shirt is your uniform for the week of SKY VBS.
