Promotion Sunday is June 12th!
Dear BCA Parents of All Stars Kids’ Ministries “Future” Kindergarteners:
Sunday, June 12th, is “Promotion Sunday” in BCA’s All Stars Kids’ Ministries. This is an annual event where we promote kids up to their new grade level (the grade they will be entering in school beginning September 2011). We realize that being a parent to a soon-to-be kindergartener may be new to you, so we would like to reassure you that your child will have an incredible experience as he/she moves upstairs to the elementary department.
Here are a few answers to FAQs that you may have about Elementary All Stars Kids’ Ministries:
How do I check my child into class? Each Sunday, please use your personalized All Stars Kids’ Ministries scan card at one of our four check-in kiosks to print out nametags for your child. Then take your child upstairs to the check-in desk in front of the elementary children’s center entrance where your child will place his/her nametag on the front of his/her shirt and give the extra nametag to our elementary kids’ church check-in desk personnel.
Where do I pick up my child? Pick up your child at the elementary kids’ church center check-in desk.
What do kids do each Sunday in Elementary All Stars’ Kids Ministries? Before the 9:30 AM and 11 AM services begin, kids are allowed to spend free time playing video games, foosball, air hockey, and other fun activities. These activities provide a welcoming atmosphere to kids as they arrive. As the services begin, kids are called into their classrooms where they will experience worship, singing, prayer, Bible lessons, and small group activities which assist them in developing friendships with their small group leaders and peers.
How are the kids grouped on Sundays? Kindergarteners experience their own group time on Sundays and also spend some of the time with 1st and 2nd graders in a large group setting.
I am a parent who wants to be involved in the spiritual growth of my child. Am I allowed to help in my child’s classroom? The Bible is very clear that the spiritual upbringing of a child is the responsibility of the parents. Because of this biblical mandate, we encourage parents to help in their children’s classrooms at church on a regular basis. If you would like to serve once per month, bi-monthly, or on a weekly basis, we would love to hear from you. Please email Abbie McCoy if you would like to find out how you can begin serving in your child’s classroom on Sundays. Confidentially, I’d like to share a little secret: It’s REALLY FUN to help in kids’ church in the elementary department. I would recommend that you give it a try. I’m sure you’ll be hooked in no time. It’s also a really great way to form friendships with other parents at BCA.
Can I serve in Elementary All Stars Kids’ Ministries outside of the classroom? Yes! We have several opportunities for parents to serve in All Stars Kids’ Ministries outside of the classroom. We especially need volunteers who will help greet kids and their families as they are checked in and out of class. We even have opportunities for parents to volunteer during the week with administrative duties that benefit Elementary All Stars Kids’ Ministries. Vacation Bible School is coming up and we need parents to commit to being involved in this amazing outreach, too.
Where will my child go on Wednesday nights? Elementary age level programs are offered upstairs in the children’s center for your child. Girls attend Elevate and boys have the option of attending either Elevate or Royal Rangers. This is the best time of year to check out these programs in order to make plans for where your child will attend in the Fall. Our Wednesday night programs for kids end on June 22nd and resume the first Wednesday night of September. For more information about these programs, please visit our All Stars Kids’ Ministries webpage.
So, CONGRATULATIONS parents of soon-to-be Kindergarteners! You’ve made it through the baby and preschool stage and now your little one is gaining newfound independence. I know this is an emotional and sentimental time for you. Just know that God is faithful. He will be there to help guide you and your child through this all-important year of entering elementary school!
Bless you!
