Rethinking Manhood

Hey BCA!  Very glad to be on this winning team with you and am excited about this Sunday—Super Bowl Sunday.  I’m rooting for the Seahawks, how about you?!! (So I’m dreaming a bit).

Super Bowl Sunday is also commitment Sunday at BCA.  This is the day we have been looking forward to for some time now as the day we make our commitments for Phase 5 of our Believing, Building, and Belonging expansion campaign.  Our new chapel, new classrooms, and new restrooms will be a huge blessing in furthering...

Rethinking Life Teaching Series Continues

Our Rethinking Life teaching series continues this Sunday as we study what Joseph teaches us about money.  Only 30 years of age, Joseph rose to the number two position in all of Egypt and led them through economic crisis.  I wish he were around today to run our country.  We need help!  Financial chaos is one of the major problems facing people today.  This Sunday I will introduce you to what I call The Joseph Principles:  7 Money Principles You Can Live By.  They are powerful and time tested;...

Jesus Principles

Don’t miss this Sunday and week 2 of our new teaching series entitled Rethinking Life.  Keep reading Genesis 37-50 as we study the life of Joseph and strive to mirror the “Jesus Principles” he exemplified.  And that’s not all, I’m also looking forward to sharing more exciting news about our new chapel and new classrooms expansion project!  See you Sunday!

December Happenings

December is flying by and what a month it has already been.  Our annual Christmas at Bethany concerts were jammed with capacity crowds and over $13,500 was raised to feed the homeless in our community.  A huge thank you to our music team for leading the charge and for our incredible army of volunteers who served in a wide variety of ways.  This coming Saturday our Compassion team gathers to assemble and distribute 110 generous food baskets to families in need.  This is a huge undertaking and I...

James 4:7-10 gives us God’s 3-part plan for victory:  Fight Satan!  Love Jesus!  Hate Sin!

James 4:7-10 gives us God’s 3-part plan for victory:  Fight Satan (resist and he will flee)!  Love Jesus (come near to Him and He will come near to you)!  Hate sin (grieve, mourn, wail-in other words don’t take sin casually-it is serious stuff and destructive of our life and relationships)!  This Sunday we conclude our teaching series entitled Take Your Stand.  We can overcome the attacks of Satan, win against temptation, and live a successful Christian life.  Don’t miss this Sunday as we...

What a Great Performance!

I loved watching our SHOUT! kids’ concert Sunday afternoon. Our kids were so excited to sing about Jesus and do a good job for mom and dad and all their family and friends in attendance.  There were incredible! As I enjoyed the concert, I was reminded of the Scripture where Jesus encourages us to come to God as little children.  Honest, humble, trusting, vulnerable, believing, loving, and free from conflicted motivation.  We are to simply reach out to Christ with an innocent and pure heart...

Take Your Stand

Our teaching series, Take Your Stand, continues this Sunday.  This study of Ephesians 6:10-18 is a tremendous reminder that we are in a war and our enemy wants to take us out.  Satan is more powerful than us but Jesus is more powerful than our enemy.  We must be vigilant, alert, and ready for the enemy’s attacks and appropriate the power of Christ and defeat Satan and his schemes. If you have missed a week catch the podcast.  And don’t forget the additional study content on Page 2 of our online...

BCA Vision Sunday was Amazing!

Vision Sunday happened at BCA yesterday.  It was a tremendous day both morning and night.  Powerful life stories were shared in the morning services as we completed our 4 part vision series, The Journey.  Yesterday we talked about Christ’s call on our lives to share His love anyway we can and as often as we can:  Share Jesus by showing mercy; Share Jesus by offering compassion; Share Jesus by being kind; Share Jesus by giving to those in need; Share Jesus by simply telling your story.  Your...

Tomorrow is The National Day of Prayer

May I encourage you to observe tomorrow’s National Day of Prayer in a very special way.  Make it personal and make it powerful.  Please remember to pray wherever you are tomorrow.  More than ever, be sure to have a special time of prayer in your personal quiet time and reserve time to pray together with your family members.

There is much happening in the world to pray about.  Our church prayer list is full of needs.  You may have many needs on your heart and mind.  God is listening and hears...

One more thing about Easter . . .

I am still reflecting on the huge days we had on Saturday’s Eggstravaganza and Easter Sunday.  Thank you everyone who worked so hard to make everything happen at such a high level.  Saturday’s Eggstravaganza was jammed and so many of you played a key role in making it a success.  And Sunday’s packed services, children’s ministries, free breakfast, sunrise service, were all superb.  Did you know it takes about 300 people serving to make an Easter weekend like this happen?  God bless you troops...
