Galatians 5:22,23--But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 

Success + Failure at Relationships = Failure 

Love in action = Kindness 

HOW IS JESUS KIND TO ME?

1. He understands my weaknesses. 

Hebrews 4:15-16 [LB]--(Jesus) understands our weaknesses since he had the same temptations we do, though he never once gave way to them and sinned. So let us come boldly to (Him)... and find grace to help us in our times of need. 

Galatians 6:1,2 [LB]--(If someone) is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help him back onto the right path... Share each other's troubles and problems. 

Be gentle... not judgmental!

2. He tells me the truth. 

John 8:32--And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. 

Ephesians 4:15 [Amp]--...let our lives lovingly express truth in all things... 

Proverbs 24:26 [GN]--An honest answer is the sign of a true friendship. 

Psalm 141:5 [GN]--A good man... will rebuke me in kindness.

3. He forgives my sin. 

Romans 3:23,24 [LB]--All of us have sinned... yet now God declares us "not guilty" of offending him if we trust in Jesus Christ, who in his kindness freely takes away our sins. 

Ephesians 1:4 [LB]--...through what Christ would do for us, God decided to make us holy in his eyes, without a single fault--we stand before him covered with his love. 

Ephesians 4:32 [LB]--Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God has forgiven you because you belong to Christ.

4. He affirms my worth. 

• Every second of every year of every decade God is thinking about you. 
  Psalm 139:16-17 [LB]--You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life... How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me constantly! 

• The second way you know how much you matter to God is that He sent His Son to die for you. 
  Romans 5:8 [LB]--God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us... 
  1 Peter 1:18, 19--...you were redeemed from the empty way of life... with the precious blood of Christ... 

Romans 15:7--Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you... 

1 Peter 2:17 [LB]--Show respect to everyone... 

1 Thessalonians 5:11--...encourage one another and build each other up... 

Hebrews 10:24--[LB]--In response to all God has done for us, let us out do each other in being helpful and kind to each other. 

Small Group Discussion Questions: 

• How do you feel when someone responds to you in kindness? Unkindness? What does unkindness do to relationships?  
• Review the points and Bible verses from this lesson. What personal application can you make from this week's teaching? 
• What are two specific “kindness action steps” you feel God prompting you to take this week? Toward whom?  
• Take some time right now to pray for the needs of those in your small group.
