Pastor Rob Carlson
Sunday, June 19, 2005

God wants more >> More of you, More for you, More in you, and More through you.

4 STEPS TO INCREDIBLE FAITH

STEP OUT:
MOVING BEYOND THE KNOWN, FAMILIAR, AND COMFORTABLE.
Genesis 22:1-2--Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, "Abraham!" "Here I am," he replied. Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about."

• When you serve the Lord, he will ask you to go.
• God wanted More for Abraham.
• God wanted to take Abraham from ordinary to incredible.
• He had to GO and GROW

STEP THROUGH:
OBEYING WHEN IT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE.
(Gen. 22:2-7)

Consider Abraham's
• vs. 2—shock and confusion
• vs. 3—deliberate obedience
•. vs. 4—mental battle
• vs. 5,6—silent suffering
• vs. 7—personal pain

I will do what I know to do: obey

STEP IN:
REMEMBERING GOD’S PROMISES, TRUSTING IN HIS PROVISION
(Gen. 22:8-14)

• vs. 8—God of promise.
• vs. 14—God of provision.

STEP UP:
ELEVATING OUR DEPENDENCE UPON GOD WILL BRING HIS BLESSING
(Gen. 22:15-18)

• vs. 15, 16 — “because you have done this”
• vs. 17 — “I will surely bless you"
• vs. 18 — Why? “…because you have obeyed me.”

Isaiah 50:10…trust in the name of the Lord and rely on (his) God.
