"Destination: Devotion, Part 2
Where are you Headed in 2005?"

Pastor Rob Carlson • Sunday, January 9, 2005
Acts 2:42-47

Acts 2:42--They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

1. Study the travel plan:  Value God's wisdom over your own.

• God’s Word is God's Wisdom.

Romans 10:17 (KJV)--...faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Believe Trust Follow

Psalms 119:9,11--How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

2 Timothy 3:16--All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work

2. Don’t jump the track: Live out God’s purposes.

3. Look To The Conductor: Make Jesus the center of your life.

1 Corinthians 11:24--Do this in remembrance of me. (see also 1 Corinthians 15:3-8)

When they broke bread, they did 3 things:

1. Worship
Romans 12:1--Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God -- this is your spiritual act of worship. (See also Romans 12:2; James 4:6-10)

2. Gratitude
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18--Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (see also Psalm 95, Psalm 100)

3. Follow
1 John 2:6--Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did. (see also 1 John 3:16-18; 1 John 4:12; John 15:8-11).

4. Respect Your Refueling Schedule: Plug into the power source.

• Today, people are too busy, too preoccupied.

Adoration- Psalms 63:3
Confession- Psalms 139:23,24
Thanksgiving- 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Supplication- Matthew 7:7; 1 Timothy 2:1

1 Thessalonians 5:17--...pray continually.
