THE NAMES OF GOD: 

Jehovah-Nissi—A banner set up on a high place in case of invasion, assembling the people for victory; the Lord our Banner. (Ex. 14:13; 17:15,16; Deut. 20:3,4; Is. 13:2-4, 11; John 3:14; 16:33; I Cor. 15:57; Eph. 2:8,9; 6:10-12)  

 

Exodus 14:13--Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 

Exodus 17:15, 16--Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner. He said, "For hands were lifted up to the throne of the LORD. The LORD will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation." 

 

 

GOD IS UNBEATABLE: What does that mean to me? 

1. God's power is sure.  

[RECAP] 

1 Corinthians 1:24--but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 

1 Corinthians 2:1-5--When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.  
2For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 
3I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. 
4My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, 
5so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power. 

 

2. God uses His power purposefully.  

Psalm 55:1, 16, 22, 23--Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea... But I call to God, and the LORD saves me... Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall... But as for me, I trust in you... 

 

3. God wants to reflect His power through you.  

POWER #1: God will give you power to conquer evil. 

James 4:7-8--Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Come near to God and he will come near to you... 

 

POWER #2: God will give you power to live a holy life. 

2 Peter 1:3 [NLT]--As we know Jesus better, His divine power gives us everything we need for living a godly life. He has called us to receive His own glory and goodness.

POWER #3: God will give you power in your weakness.  

2 Corinthians 12:9a--But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 

 

POWER #4: God will give you power to fulfill His plan for your life.  

Ephesians 3:20--Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us...

    What personal application can you make from this week's teaching? 
  3. How does God's infinite power make a difference in your personal life?
